CapWell has a holistic and cross-disciplinary approach to improve the current state of well intervention. The workforce consists of professionals from a wide range of disciplines and with various experiences, collaborating to develop new solutions.
CapWell was founded in 2011 when experienced engineers and innovators had a groundbreaking idea of how well interventions could be improved and made more efficient. The concept of completely capping the well during the operation was demonstrated summer 2012 at Ullrigg, an onshore demonstration well site in Stavanger, Norway.
The demonstration sparked the interest of ConocoPhillips and Statoil, which became partners in a joint industry to design and build equipment for operations in the North Sea.
